Policy for “Playing-Up”

Sparta Soccer Club discourages the practice of “playing-up” (a child playing on a travel team where the team age bracket is older than that specific child’s age bracket). SSC does recognize that in certain cases due to the ability and skill level of a specific player, a “play-up” situation may be in the best interest of that player.

If it a player is rated in the top ten of a large-sided team (Division 1-4) or in the top seven of a small-sided team (Division 5-6) of the team the player is being considered for, that player may be considered as a “play-up” candidate.  The head coach must seek SSC Board approval at the next Board Meeting.

The Board may waive this policy when the club forms mixed age group teams.
