Selection of travel Coaches

board meeting from a list of applicants. They are selected to handle the coaching responsibilities for the upcoming fall and spring seasons. The selection of assistant coaches is the sole responsibility of the head coaches.

Applications for Head Coach

New applicants need to submit a resume containing the information listed below to the Director of Coaches by May 15th. Supporting Letters of Recommendation are optional.

Incumbent head coaches will be reappointed if they express an interest in continuing to coach AND there are no outstanding league or club issues pending. By May 15th they need to inform the Director of Coaches of their desire to continue on as head coach. However, they do not need to submit a resume.

Appointments

The SSC board will review the list of applicants prior to travel tryouts and appoint head coaches for as many teams as possible. Coaches for teams of mixed age groups situations where multiple teams at the same age group are formed will not be appointed until the board is sure a team will be fielded. All applicants will be informed either prior to the tryouts or immediately following confirmation of fielding a team.

Restrictions

Co-head coaches are not permitted by the Sparta Soccer Club. One and only one person will serve as head coach.

Paid head coaches are not permitted by the Sparta Soccer Club. Paid trainers are permitted who can assist with the coaching responsibilities but an unpaid volunteer needs to serve as head coach.

Coach Replacements

The board reserves the right to suspend a head or assistant coach at any time if the board deems it necessary. Applicants for the open position will be sought and a replacement will be chosen from those who apply. The selection will be made as soon as is possible to minimize disruption to the team. During the selection period, the assistant coach will serve as the head coach.
